University of Illinois – College of Veterinary Medicine: The Future of Veterinary Medicine – Externship Program  This program, offered through several veterinary schools, allows students to explore our hospitals firsthand. We provide opportunities for hands-on experience in surgery, post-operative care, client communication, and veterinary education.

Kremer Veterinary Services Scholarships: Established by Dr. Anthony T. Kremer, Class of 1990, and owner of multiple veterinary practices in the greater Chicagoland area, these scholarships support veterinary students in key areas of the profession. Each year, four scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded to third- and fourth-year students at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. The scholarship categories include:

• Small Animal Surgery – Awarded to a third-year student demonstrating exceptional interest and skill in small animal orthopedic surgery, with plans to pursue a career in private practice.
• Business & Practice Management – Given to a fourth-year student with a strong interest in the economics of veterinary medicine and practice management, fostering the development of successful veterinary entrepreneurs.
• Shelter Medicine – Presented to a student dedicated to improving the health and well-being of animals in shelter environments through medical care and advocacy.
• Telemedicine – Awarded to a student exploring the role of technology in veterinary medicine, with a focus on telehealth services that enhance patient care and accessibility.
