HELP SAVE PETS –
In 2000, Dr. Tony Kremer created what is now Help Save Pets. Not willing to see viable healthy pets be put down at shelters, he decided to do something to help – and that is when HelpSavePets.org was founded.
Since inception, HelpSavePets.org has placed nearly 11,000 animals into loving homes. Each one of these animals was given shelter, food, medical aid and vaccinations and time to find the right home. Kremer Veterinary Service doctors mended mutilated limbs and cured many illnesses so that these animals could get a second chance at good lives. We have grown and now operate out of five Kremer Veterinary Service locations. In 2008 we changed our name from the Humane Society of Plainfield to Help Save Pets, still HSP.
Help Save Pets is dedicated to our mission of saving and finding homes for dogs and cats about to be euthanized at animal control facilities. Our unique structure allows us to run an effective rescue at minimal expense, with the majority of our funds directly used for the care of dogs and cats.
CANINE THERAPY CORPS – An Animal Assisted Therapy –
The Canine Therapy Corps requires that all canine volunteers pass a very difficult obedience and temperament test before they can work in any of the programs. Many of CTC clients cannot be reached by traditional forms of therapy and each volunteer works in collaboration with the physicians, psychotherapists, counselors, and rehabilitation therapists on staff at the site so that each program is responsive to the needs of the patient population in the therapeutic environment.
